History of the Campaign
ONE YEAR HAS PASSED…..WHAT HAS STIG DONE SO FAR?
We have written letters against the sale of the land for housing development
(Councils, Mayor, other relevant authorities). See some examples:
We applied for a Tree Protection Order and received the following response
from the Senior Planning Officer (March 2010):
“….It is unlikely that a Tree Preservation Order would be considered unless the trees in question were in danger of immediate harm. Until a planning application is made, which may involve harm to these trees, this course of action would not be considered to be expedient. The reason for this is due to the fact that the trees are managed by the Local Authority and they have a level of protection, as they are in Gunnersbury Park Conservation Area. Should a planning application be received for this site, the Local Planning Authority is obliged to display a site notice for 21 days to allow members of the public to comment. The Local Planning Authority must take account of any comments made by those who make representations.”
We keep up to date with Councils, community, local societies and charities’ meetings where Gunnersbury Park is on the agenda
We have increased our network to find other groups supporting our campaign
We are committed to improving our website and keeping our members up-to-date with relevant events and news
We have created an account for donations to cover our expenses (stationery, leaflets, laminated posters, phone calls, membership cards, meeting rooms etc.)
